The Cumberland High School Concert Chorus is a dynamic mixed-voice ensemble open to all students who wish to explore the joy of choral singing. This ensemble builds a strong foundation in vocal technique, music literacy, and ensemble skills while introducing singers to a wide variety of repertoire. Students perform music ranging from classical masterworks and folk songs to contemporary pop, Broadway, and seasonal selections.
The Concert Chorus performs at school concerts, community events, and regional festivals, offering students opportunities to grow as musicians and performers. Through teamwork, discipline, and creativity, members of the Concert Chorus develop both their musical abilities and their confidence as artists.
The Clef Singers are Cumberland High School’s premier advanced choral ensemble, representing the highest level of vocal achievement in the program. Admission is by audition, and members are expected to demonstrate strong musicianship, vocal technique, and a commitment to excellence.
This select group performs challenging repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary choral literature, jazz standards, world music, and innovative pop arrangements. In addition to school concerts, the Clef Singers frequently perform at community events, regional festivals, and adjudicated competitions, including traveling out of state every other year to compete in national festival competitions.
As musical leaders within the choral program, the Clef Singers embody dedication, artistry, and collaboration, inspiring audiences and setting the standard for choral excellence at Cumberland High School.
Ancora is the vibrant ensemble for singers in the treble range, offering students the opportunity to strengthen their vocal technique, develop musicianship, and perform a wide variety of repertoire. Ancora—Latin for “anchor”—represents both the ensemble’s connection to the Cumberland Clipper tradition and the steadfast role that harmony and song play in bringing people together.
Members of Ancora explore diverse musical styles including classical works, folk songs, multicultural pieces, Broadway favorites, and contemporary pop selections. The ensemble performs at school concerts, community events, and regional festivals, consistently showcasing artistry, teamwork, and school pride.
